Home Improvement

Whilst I have been busy with work, hubby apparently had done some seriously home improvement project.

First project was redressing his War Room. I secretly called his working room as War Room because in the past, it seldom tidy. There are always papers every where. Opened books, magazines, CD, cables and God knows what else. I could not stand it and had the door close whenever I can. But after minor renovation, it look nothing but beautiful! Hubby painted (yes, by him self!) one of the wall with lime green color and designed the furniture with white woods. His new work station now could accommodate all the PC, printers and scanners. And the wireless keyboard and mouse has really made his table look so much tidier. Now I love sitting there listening to the music whilst watching Pascal dancing. I am not sure whether hubby like that we got so comfy though, but… *deliberate hanging sentence - not to be continued*

Second project was when hubby decided to change the color in the boys’ room from white and blue to creme and orange. I was not sure where was I in the decision making process (probably somewhere between Bangkok, KL and Gresik) but I love it! It look so much brighter now. Hubby had also ordered some specially made orange and yellow photo frame and had the boys pictures develop. I just saw it this morning and it look just perfect!

The third project was our garden. My mother in law house in Kemang was sold and we inherited a bunch of potted plant. Again, I was not sure where was I in the decision making process (probably somewhere between office, salon and health club) but when I look around this morning I was estatic to find some flowers in our garden! It look so neat now. I made mental note to inform the nannies that the boys will have to be careful when they play soccer in our yard. The soccer field project will have to wait.

The fourth project is our bed room. It has been 2 years since we dismantled our bed and slept on the floor. Basically this was not only because we did not want Pascal to fall off the bed but also because we did not like our bed. I personally think our old bed was horrible! It was an antique engraved wooden bed. It is completely the opposite of our simple taste. But it was a wedding gift from hubby’s sister and it was our first bed so I hang on to that for a while before I realized that it did not suit the rest of the house. But now Pascal has started sleeping with Mika in their room so I guess it’s about time that we sleep in our room and try to make it more comfortable. So when hubby took me to a small furniture shop in Kemang last week and showed me our potential new bed, I said ‘Yes’ faster than bullet. It’s small and compact and very minimalist. It goes with a dressing table which I instantly fell in love with. So we decided to be a little bit crazy and bought two of them right away. God knows how should we pay the bills.

Because of our impulsive decision buying off both bed and dressing table (what an excuse!), I then look for feather goose pillows and managed to find it in Metro couple of days a go. But the discounted price would have made my wallet cry even harder so I decided to hold off the horses for a while. I am planning to buy rug, comforter and new bed sheet as well. Our current bed sheet consist of Formula 1 which will not help enhancing the aura of maturity in the master bed room. Tee hee.

And now hubby has an idea to close one of our five terraces for walking cabinet. O-oh! I love my terraces! I love sitting there and feel the wind breeze playing with my hair. The argument is that we seldom use that terrace. Let alone my self and my 10 - 12 hours working day. But I simply love it! It made our dining room so airy and light. Ok, I must admit that I have been having my meal in the dining room for only…once a week tops! But it does not mean that I am ready to loose it! So we had a little bit of argument there and decided to park the issue for the time being.

Other than that, our home look more and more homey now. And I think after 5 years living there it should look homey! Our next plan will be to tidying up the second floor. Our sitting room has been used for in door soccer field and play house so we need to start utilizing it for something else. A plasma TV would look nice in there compared to countless Hot Wheels monstrous speeding track! And I would die to have another Fadil’s painting hanging on the wall. Oh I started to feel orgasm just to think about those painting hanging around in the gallery waiting to be bought. But last time it took almost half of my monthly salary just to satisfy my lust and now I am craving for another one. Ouch! Is that the sound of our bank account crying? Oh well…

Good job, hubby! I hope that there will be more and more projects to come. Hear hear!

  • Wishful Thinking

Jakarta is engulfed with gray clouds when I leave home this morning. Not long after that, the rain started pouring gently from the sky tapping my car window with its soothing voice. There is nothing I want more than sleep off the morning on goose feather pillow and had blanket pulling up to my chin. Curling up with my loved one beside me whilst holding him tighly and had our toes touching each other beneath the blanket. And when I decided to wake up, I would have a bowl of indomie, teh tarik, sit in my lazy chair to continue reading this and have a bowl of time to spent on my own. Perfectly happy in my solitude. Unfortunately life does not work that way, my dear…

Added a minute later: I just realised that today is my 12th work anniversary! Yay!

Could somebody give me another 24 hours every day? Or another me, please? Let me jot down what I have been doing lately and you will see what I mean…

    Mon, 11 June - Tue, 12 June

I was sequestered for 2 full days training at the Ritz Carlton. It’s about Coaching and Mentoring and it was really boriiiiing. The facilitator kept on talking in flat tone and every real case we raise was deflected with a bunch of theoritical bull sh*tt. Consultant! Thank God my team mate was quite easy to work with otherwise I would have had fungus grown from my ears. I could have sworn that there were spiders woven their web in between my jaw and my shoulder fo I sat still for God knows how long.

    Wed, 13 June - Fri, 15 June

I flew to Gresik and had one hell of a time there. I spent hours in the Control Room digesting information from the Operators and walk around the On Shore Production Facilities. This is the first time I went there when the production has started. Other than that, the experience was great, great and great.

Until I was called on Thursday night 11 pm because our rig was on fire! I was alerted and unable to sleep until 2 am. Once I got the the confirmation that everything was okay, then I could go back to my beauty sleep to be waken up again at 4.30 am to catch the morning flight.

    Saturday, 16 June.

We went to Mika’s family days in ISCI (International Sport Club Indonesia). It was in the open air and by a small lake. The mood was festive and the athmosphere was great. Mika played cheerleaders in the drum band. And later on, he participated in ‘Manuk Dadali’ dance performance as baby bird. Not quite the most serious role but that’s okay. I love seeing him playing baby bird! He looked so cute jumping here and there flapping his wings and nodding his beak. After that, he played the group games. From bouncing around in inflated house, mini soccer, rings, get him self tattoo, ice cream, bowling and he ended up trying the Flying Fox. Nevertheless, he got scared on top of the tree. Crying on the top of his lungs whilst clutching the ladder and somebody had to climb up to help him down. Tee hee. I really can’t blame him though. It did look so high. I wouldn’t be able to bring my self up there in any given condition.

Being an totally Air Con addict, I soon soaked in sweat. Lucky I brought my pink umbrella. But still the air was humid and the sun was shining so hot I barely could breath. I was worried that my Lupus will flare. I hope not.

    Sunday, 17 June

We went to see Fantastic Four. It was so-so. And we had dinner and bought few things. My cold is getting worse. I had runny nose and coughing badly. Gosh, hopefully it’s not sign of Lupus flare. I was completely flat out when I reached home. I felt so exhausted.

    Monday, 18 June

I had a bad day trying to tied up as many loose ends as possible as I will be travelling to KL tomorrow until Thursday. So see you again soon…
